Social Emotional Development and Infant/Family Mental Health Support for Early Intervention Providers and Families with Infants and Toddlers who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Public Health (DPH) announces the availability of funds for the Wisconsin Sound Beginnings (WSB) program.
WSB is funded by two grants from the Federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau: the Title V Block Grant and the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program grant. The Health Resources and Services Administration established the EHDI Program grant to support comprehensive and coordinated state and territory EHDI systems of care so families with newborns, infants, and young children up to 3 years of age who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) receive appropriate and timely services that include hearing screening, diagnosis, and early intervention (EI) to health departments in the United States, Pacific Island Territories and Jurisdictions, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia.
The WSB Program aims to work with the State of Wisconsin Birth to 3 Program to improve access to deafness- specific Early Intervention and language acquisition services so that 80% of those infants identified as deaf or hard of hearing by 3 months of age will have a documented Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP) by 6 months of age.
