GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION (GME) RESIDENCY EXPANSION
Wisconsin’s Graduate Medical Education Initiative was launched in 2013 by the Department of Health Services (DHS) to increase the number of physicians practicing in rural areas of the state. One strategy for achieving this broad goal is expanding residency positions in existing accredited graduate medical education (GME) programs. The purpose of this document is to provide current programs with information to assist in preparing and submitting applications for Residency Expansion Grants to increase the number of resident positions in one of the following specialties: family medicine, general internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
