Peer-Run Respite- Veterans
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) is seeking proposals for a Peer-Run Respite for Veterans (PRR-V), and intends to use the results of this process to award a Grant agreement. DCTS intends to provide funding to one non-profit, peer-run organization for the development and operation of one short-term, residential PRR-V located in southeastern Wisconsin to serve veterans in the southeast region, where over half of veterans live. The purpose of the project is to provide 24-hour/seven-days-a-week (24/7) recovery-oriented peer support for veterans living with mental health and/or substance use challenges in a safe and stable environment. Services are to be provided at no cost to the peer. PRR-V will promote self-directed recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges, with the goal of preventing crises and reducing hospitalizations. The PRR-V will provide resources and linkages to community supports and services to assist peers in achieving recovery.
